Overview: This project involved creating a wine brand and designing its labels and packaging. Role: Branding & Graphic Designer (solo project). Project Type: Graphic Design & Branding. Tools: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Express, and After Effects.
The Brand Identity
For the logo, I needed to capture the sophistication of what defines the Divine Essence brand identity, highlighting the brand's Canadian identity with the Maple Leaf, while also conveying the essence of the quality and ingredients used in the brand with the golden frames and grape imagery in the center. Initially, the badge I created, which we will see on the wine labels, was darker in colour; however, I changed it to be lighter like the logo to address a contrast issue. The newer version of the badge can be seen in the packaging design.

Labels & Packaging Design Guidance
To effectively capture the brand identity of Divine Essence and translate it into a design concept, I created a mood board that emphasizes the brand's core values and themes. This process involved selecting relevant imagery, themes, a cohesive color palette, and typography to ensure consistency. By focusing on these elements, I was able to sketch ideas that clearly reflect the essence of the brand, which applies to both the wine labels and packaging.

The boxes feature essential information in accordance with Canadian compliance standards. The design of the box is similar to the wine labels for consistency and transparency; however, it is more focused on the Divine Essence Merlot wine. Here we see the lighter version of the Divine Essence Badge to address contrast concerns.

Key Takeaway's
This was an interesting but challenging project. I would definitely see room for improvement in terms of hierarchy and spacing with some of the elements (i.e. the barcodes featured on the wine labels). Probably the most difficult part of this project was figuring out the packaging dimensions due to how long my bottle was. So there could be more adjustments there, but overall, this was a good learning experience.
